Those restless sleepers who are having trouble getting 40 winks might want to consider investing in adjustable bed mattresses. Not because these electric beds can possibly provide a better night’s rest — which could be true — but because it may be time to ditch their old mattresses.
Here are just a few signs that it’s time to get a new bed.
Waking Up Stiff and Sore. – One of the surest signs it’s time to get a new mattress is waking up stiff and sore, as this is a clear indicator that the bed no longer provides the proper support. This is usually because the bed has become too soft. Though it might feel nice to lay on the mattress for 10 minutes, a full eight hours of sleep can be brutal on a back.
The Mattress Is Starting to Sag and Get Lumpy. – If the mattress is starting to sag, it’s because there’s uneven wear and tear on the innerspring system. This is why it’s always a good idea to periodically flip a mattress, but after enough time, it’ll eventually happen, no matter what. If the mattress is starting to get lumpy, the padding inside has started to shift around, which causes an uneven density. This is particularly common in lower quality mattresses, where the fill ins’t stitched or tufted well.
It’s been a While. – You might want to consider getting a new mattress if it’s been a while. The fact of the matter is that every seven or eight years after a person turns 40, they’re going to need a more firm mattress. That’s just the way things go. If it’s been that long, and you’re over the hill, you might want to consider dumping your old bed and getting a new one.
If you relate to any of these, you may want to consider getting a new mattress. If you have any questions about adjustable beds, feel free to share in the comments.
